PLEASE READ: Description of the Course and Terms and Conditions
Purpose of the Course. This Virginia Learner's Permit Study Course is a focused, adult-oriented study course intended to prepare adults to pass the multiple-choice sign and general knowledge examination administered by Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) to all persons applying for learner's permits. The Course is a joint venture between Drive-To-Work, a Virginia non-profit corporation which assists individuals to restore their driving privileges, and the Virginia Association of Driver Education and Traffic Safety (VADETS), a driver education teachers' association. The content of the Course is based on materials contained in the Virginia Driver's Manual, which may be obtained from DMV's Customer Service Centers and on-line from DMV.
Ability to Drive. The Course assumes that you, the registrant, already know how to drive a motor vehicle, but may not be familiar with the terminology used on the test or changes in the rules of the road since last taking the test. It permits you to practice taking the test by computer, in the same way the test is taken at DMV.
Instructor. A trained driver education instructor has been assigned to you and will monitor your progress and answer your questions (for on-line course registrants only). The instructor will contact you by e-mail after you have first started the Course.
No Guarantee To Pass the DMV Test. When you complete the Course, Drive-To-Work will send you a Certificate of Completion to recognize your accomplishment. Please note, however, that successful completion of the Course DOES NOT GUARANTEE that you will pass the DMV examination. This Course DOES NOT QUALIFY as the classroom component required by DMV to take the examination a fourth time.
No Refunds. All fees and costs paid by you as registrant for the Course are NON-REFUNDABLE. NO REFUNDS will be made because you fail to pass the DMV examination or for any other reason.
Rewards and Rebates. Drive-To-Work may elect to offer rewards and rebates to registrants who obtain their learner's permits from DMV after completing the Course. To be eligible, a registrant must send a copy of the registrant's DMV learner's permit to Drive-To-Work within 30 days after completion of the Course. Rewards and rebates will be mailed to the address of the registrant in approximately 30 days. Limit: one reward or rebate per registrant.
E-Mail Address, User Name and Password. To access the Course, you must have a valid e-mail address and a user name and password assigned by Drive-To-Work when registration is complete. Please keep this information confidential. However, Drive-To-Work shall not be responsible for your failure or inability as the registrant to be able to access the Course, whether due to computer issues, internet issues, your skill level or any other causes whatsoever. In the event of technical difficulty, you may click "Contact Support" for assistance.
Course Modules. The Course is divided into modules based on subjects covered by the DMV examination, such as signs, traffic signals, rules of the road, etc. You can complete one or more modules and return later to finish the remaining modules. You can also review completed modules at a later time. However, you cannot advance to a later module until you complete the previous module.
Time to Complete. Everyone learns in different ways and times. However, we estimate that most students should be able to complete the Course in a few hours if they are diligent. The time may be spread over several days or weeks. For best results, we recommend that all modules be completed within three (3) weeks. We also recommend that you take the DMV driver's examination soon after completion of this Course.
Expiration. To control the Course, your user name and password will automatically expire three (3) months after the date of your registration. You may request a new user name and password by contacting us and paying a $10.00 reactivation fee. Click "Contact Administration."
If unfortunately you fail the DMV examination after completing the Course, you should prepare for the examination again by retaking either the whole Course or the module for the part of the examination that you failed. Be sure to notify "Contact Administration" (not the instructor) and we will provide a new user name and password for an additional three (3) months without charge.
No Express or Implied Warranty. While the information in this Course is deemed to be correct, Drive-To-Work, VADETS and the instructor make no warranty or guarantee, express or implied, with respect to the material set forth herein, its completeness, correctness, reliability or accuracy. Furthermore, Drive-To-Work, VADETS and the instructor shall not be liable for any special, consequential or exemplary damages resulting, in whole or in part, from the registrant's or any other person's use, interpretation or application of, or reliance on, these materials. These materials do not constitute legal advice.
Termination. Drive-To-Work may terminate your use of the Course by de-activating your user name and password at any time and without notice if it its sole discretion you as the registrant or any other person using the Course with your password violates the terms and conditions of this Course.
Acceptance of Terms and Conditions. By registering for the Course, I, the registrant, accept all the descriptions, terms and conditions of the Course as set forth above.
